The Sacred Heart Contemporary Choir is under the direction of Mr. Pat Robell and sings at the 5:30 PM Mass on Saturdays. Rehearsals are in the Parish Hall on Saturday afternoons at 4:30 PM before mass. New members are encouraged. Please see Mr. Robell or Elana Vizuet after mass The Sacred Heart Niners sing at the 9:00 Sunday Mass. They rehearse in the choir room (behind the Ministry Center) Sundays after mass during the summer and Wednesdays at 7:00 PM the rest of the year. The choir welcomes new singers as well as instrumental musicians. Please see any of the members after mass if you are interested in joining, or contact Director of Music Elena Vizuet at (619) 435-3167 ext 310. The Sacred Heart Loft Choir sings at the 11:00 AM Mass from September to June. The Loft Choir includes four professional soloists. This is a traditional choir, singing chant through the great choral music right up to current anthems. Each Advent and Lent they present an afternoon choral service, often with chamber musicians. Rehearsals are Thursdays at 7:00 PM in the choir room. New members are welcome. Please contact Director of Music Elena Vizuet after mass or at (619) 435-3167 ext 310 for more information. The parish choirs often join together for major feast days, including Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Holy Thursday and the Easter Vigil. The pipe organ at Sacred Heart was built by the Fratelli Ruffatti Company (Ruffatti Brothers) of Padua, Italy, in 1978. The two-manual instrument has 36 ranks with 31 speaking stops. The console is prepared for an additional 16 ranks derived from 13 speaking stops, which make a total of 53 ranks. The horizontal display just below the loft is the splendid Trompette en Chamade, which celebrates major feast days and is often featured in wedding processions. |
